Bahe Hydro Power Project

 

NISARE mini-hydro power projects is a part of Krishna Valley Power Projects and it intends to harness the power generating potential of the Nisare Site, which provides a gross head of 4.8m and projected continuous discharge varying from 26.63 to 119.5 Cumecs for about nine non-monsoon months of the year.

Having identified the power potential of the site, KVPPL had approached the Government for developing project at the Site. The 1 x 2250 KW Nisare Mini Hydro Power Project is envisaged as run of the river scheme, down stream of the existing K.T. Weir across Koyna River at Nisare. The project site is about 50 Km down stream of Koyna Dam, and 23 Km up stream from the confluence point of Koyna River and Krishna River.

At present, the Koyna River receives about 40-60 Cumecs of discharges from the Koyna Dam at regular intervals for about 120 days through out the non-monsoon months of the year. During monsoons, the river receives soill over from the Dam discharge from the catchment area downstream of the Koyna Dam. Due to increased demand for irrigation waters during the non-monsoon months, the Koyna Dam is expected to annually release 50 TMC or 1416 MCM of water for irrigation and other uses. These discharges shall also become available at Nisare. The K.T. Weir at Nisare provides provides a gross head of about 4.8m. Therefore, the proposed project site provides potential for the generation of power.
